Examination, Documentation & Assessment
Detailed Condition Reports
Written by certified conservators, our reports provide a detailed account of an object’s condition when we receive it and includes information on the method of manufacture, the construction of the object, structural instabilities, areas of discoloration, and previous repairs/attachments.
Technical Examination
Materials and techniques used to fabricate your object are determined with visual examination including magnification, microscopy, and visible light imaging. If analytical analysis is required, we partner with conservation scientists to provide chemical analysis.
Insurance Evaluations
Los Angeles Art Conservation works with clients and insurance providers to assess collections damaged by floods, earthquakes and fires. Let us assist you with mold and smoke mitigation on small to large collections.
Collection Surveys
Our team can survey your collection to determine the overall condition of the objects. Objects will be given a survey number, conservation priority, condition reported, and photographed. Treatment, exhibition, storage and rehousing recommendations will be provided.
CAP Assessments
Collections Assessments for Preservation provide institutions with a detailed assessment of the entire collection, recommendations for building improvements, and collections care consultation.
Consultation/Education
Our team offers a variety of services beyond treatment. Whether you are an artist or a collector, we are happy to teach workshops or discuss the longevity of materials, housing options, pest management, or any other conservation-related questions.
